Before your ready to complain about how horrible your life is, maybe you should first take a moment to see what you have to be thankful for.
I often want to get on social media and unload all the things that simply make me angry!! But what good will it do? People feeling sorry for me? Sometimes the only thing that can change in a situation is your attitude.
A change in perspective can change everything.
I absolutely HATE some of the things I read/see on social media. So much negativity and ungratefulness.
We all view the grass as greener on the other side.
I often find myself thinking, if only people knew what they really had. If only they knew the blessings that are right in front of them.
My point is simply where I began: before you start complaining, take a moment to see what your thankful for and see if it changes your perspective.
Because I choose to change my perspective my life is nothing but beautiful. I’m thankful for my husband. A husband who loves me unconditionally. A husband who provides for me and uses wisdom when making decisions for our family. I’m thankful for the friends I have who love me regardless of my failures and everything I can not be. I’m thankful for the 4 dogs that run my home. They too live a beautiful life. My family supports me and doesn’t cast judgement on my life choices or failures. I have a job and the ability to live a very comfortable life. The list could go on and on of the things I’m thankful for and because of that, everything else just seems so small.
One thing I’ve learned in my years of being in counseling is being able to identify: is this a problem that I have created, or a problem that has been created around me?
When your intentionally making poor decisions for your life: bad decisions or decisions your not ready for; you will experience consequences or failures. However when a situation has been created around you, you must take a step back and understand this is not your fault. Therefore releasing responsibility and finding rest. Is this situation in my control or out of my control?
