Part of living with depression is knowing your symptoms.
For me, when I’m depressed I isolate myself. I will reach out in my own way but if a hand doesn’t reach back, I’m not going to go out of my way to be around people. Often times it will be as simple as asking someone to hang out or eat dinner. Obviously people are busy and have their own lives but that’s why it’s good to have friends and people around you. It’s good to have friends you know you can rely on to be there during those dark times.
Isolation is hard because when you isolate yourself people don’t know what’s really going on and they can’t help you.
Knowing your symptoms can help others around you know what to look for and how to help you.
Try to learn to be aware of your symptoms. It takes time to learn them but you’ll get there. When you know how to help yourself it will also help others to learn how to help you.
